Project funding and timeline

The former Canton Inn was demolished after years of being considered a neighborhood nuisance.
In 2022, the Canton Community Improvement Corporation acquired the property and adjacent land before transferring the site to Canton For All People.

Canton For All People partnered with Woda Cooper Companies, a Columbus-based developer specializing in affordable housing.

The $21 million project was funded through 4% low-income housing tax credits along with a mix of public and private loans and grants.
The City of Canton contributed $2.1 million, including HOME and American Rescue Plan funds.

“This project shows what’s possible when public and private partners work together to move the city forward.”
— Mayor William V. Sherer II

Final construction steps include painting, carpentry, electrical work, and climate control installation in preparation for residents moving in.
